It should come as no surprise to anyone that has followed or knows our family that Christmas morning arrives shortly after my wife and I snuggle into our bed under the nice warm covers. In years past we'd hear one or more of our children call down to check and see if it was time to descend the stairs of joy and witness just what Santa had left them just hours earlier. This morning was no different.

After having dozed off into a blissful slumber, my 8 yr old, J, calls down at 2AM and like clockwork every hour after until we acquiesce at around 5:30AM and agree to let the kids come down. From there it was a controlled flurry of wrapping paper flying (one person at a time this year) and gifts being treasured and shared.

Even Abby got into the excitement.
While this year's approach to Christmas giving was much more subdued compared to years passed, the kids did not complain once and have thoroughly enjoyed their morning (all 90 minutes of it). We're now settling into watching Wall-E (Santa left it for us), setting up Barbie condos, registering new WebKinz, assembling new Lego sets, pushing tunes onto an iPod, treasuring homemade gifts and enjoying time together as a family.
Merry Christmas!
I think I can...
